Yellow Fever Vaccine Validity and Timing

To be valid, the vaccine must have been administered at least 10 days prior to your arrival in Ecuador.

It’s worth noting that the Ecuadorian government accept that the Yellow Fever vaccine is effective for life with a single dose. Therefore certificates issued in previous years will still be accepted for control purposes.

Who Needs a Yellow Fever Certificate to Enter Ecuador?

This requirement applies to:

- Citizens and residents of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil

- Travelers of any nationality who have spent more than 10 days in any of these four countries, even if they are Ecuadorian nationals

You will be asked to present your vaccination certificate when boarding your flight, bus, or boat to Ecuador. Authorities may also request it again at the point of entry.

Why Has Ecuador Introduced This Health Requirement?

This measure has been introduced following a public health emergency declared by the Colombian government, due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever in border regions near Ecuador. Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil are also currently facing elevated transmission rates of the disease, particularly in Amazonian areas.

We recommend all travellers affected by this update take the necessary precautions in advance of their trip to avoid any disruption to their travel plans.
